In May of 2017, Penelope Lorenzana, also known as Chef Moppy, (11) traveled to Rochester, NY as the semi-finalists in the Saunders Scholars Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) regional and national competitions. Chef Moppy was the top winner from her class in the Sandy Chamber Young Entrepreneurs Academy and won $3,900 to start her business.
Chef Moppy has been busy making plans to complete her chef training. In June she began classes with the esteemed Park City Culinary Institute at the Salt Lake location. “I wanted to attend the Park City Culinary Institute to take my cooking skills to the next level. It will also help further my business of making chefs knives for Junior Chefs. At the end of the PCCI program, I will receive a professional certificate in the culinary arts – I will be a professional chef at the young age of 11! This certification will allow people to take me more seriously in cooking and in business. I LOVE the Park City Culinary Institute. I am learning so much and I am finally pursuing my dream!” Chef Moppy’s products can be purchased from the Park City Culinary Institute (PCCI) online store. She is raising money through her go fund me page to help cover the costs of her tuition at PCCI.
Chef Moppy was selected as a celebrity chef for KUTV & Macey’s Backyard BBQ 2017 and was featured on Good 4 Utah Midday news segment. Her segments will be filmed today (6/30/2017) and this post will be updated with the links.
Congratulations to you, Chef Moppy! Here’s to looking forward to having more successes along the way!
