Diane Sheya, Owner of Salt Lake Culinary Center, opened her doors to our Sandy Area Chamber Young Entrepreneurs Academy Granite class. Salt Lake Culinary, located at 2233 South 300 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84115, is a cooking school that offers a wide variety of classes to the home cook. Diane has been a culinary instructor for 20+ years. Her passion is to bring the joy of cooking into peoples lives. She has taught private classes, and as well as group events and has been a guest chef in many grocery stores and news programs throughout Utah. She was one of the original chefs at Viking Cooking School in 2009, became Culinary Director in 2012, then in 2013 purchased the business and renamed it to Salt Lake Culinary Center.
Today, Salt Lake Culinary Center has a total of 13 chef instructors and offers several different classes including basic knife skills, junior chefs and even gluten free! Their commitment to excellence and customer service sets them apart from other cooking schools.
Our students had the unique opportunity to tour the school and learn from Diane herself what it took to bring her business dream to a reality. She answered questions about how business financing works, what things to pay attention to when starting a new business, and spoke of the challenges and successes she has seen in her career. She also talked about what it took to remodel the space and make it her own. Some of our students with ideas based around the cooking industry were able to ask her specific questions and get input for their businesses.
If you’re looking for a fun date night or just want to learn something new about cooking, check out their class catalog and sign up for the classes you are looking for.
